About Tony Works

Tony, In and Around the House host and gardening expert, is a Northern Kentucky native who grew up in the gardening business. His father, Jack, is the owner of the Jackson Florist and Garden Center in Covington.

After graduating from Northern Kentucky University and working briefly in the private sector, Tony soon found himself back at his father’s garden center, falling in love with the industry all over again. “The gardening community is really special because of the people,” says Tony. “The Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area has so many great locally owned and operated garden centers, and they’re run by genuine people who really go above and beyond to help their customers. It really is a special fraternity to be a part of.”

Tony’s favorite part of working in the industry is helping people solve their gardening issues and teaching them how to build a better garden. “You get a lot of satisfaction from helping people achieve success growing their flower beds and their vegetable and herb gardens, choosing the right trees and shrubs and helping them get their lawns looking great. That’s why I am really excited to do the show. I can talk to a massive listening audience and help them get their yard where they want it to be.”

When he’s not in the garden, Tony’s usually attending a Reds game with his wife, Tina, on the golf course attempting to lower his handicap or brewing his own beer at home.

About Bob Bard

Bob, In and Around the House host and garden center/landscaping expert, is a Cincinnati native. Currently he is a resident of Northern Kentucky with his wife Elizabeth and two children Mackenzie and Dylan. Stan and Jean, his grandparents, started Bard Nurseries Inc. in 1964. His parents, Clint and Kathy Bard, have continued to run the business since then. Bob, his brother Doug and theirs wives, are the next generation to expand and grow Bard Nurseries. Bob is the lead landscape designer, growing division manager and involved in all everyday operations. The Garden Center has grown to 4 acres with 22 greenhouses. The landscape division runs multiple crews, year round.

After attending the University of Cincinnati Clermont College, Bob thought that teaching was going to be in his future. However, he soon realized that landscaping and garden center was his true passion. “I can’t imagine myself doing anything else but working in this industry. I love my job and getting to work with my family. I get a chance to take someone’s dream and vision and turn it into reality."

Bob’s favorite part of working in this industry is that it changes every day. There is always something new to learn and someone new to meet. “I am excited about working on In and Around the House. I get a chance to help people every Saturday and a chance to learn from them as well. Gardening is something anyone can do; it doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from as that’s what makes it great."

If you don’t find him in the garden center, around the Tri-State meeting clients or in the studio, you can find him hanging out with his family by the pool, taking a ride on a boat or playing a round of golf with Tony.
